Orland Retailers Reach Out to Clothe Victims of Domestic Violence
March 2009

Written by: Debra Marillo, Director, Community Relations

J. Jill and Coldwater Creek retail shops located in Orland ran clothing drives at their stores during the month of March to donate to the Crisis Center for South Suburbia (CCSS). The drives provided much needed clothing to women and children victims of domestic violence who are residing in the CCSS Emergency Shelter. Customers and area residents were asked to drop off gently used clothing at the stores. Many of the women who come to the CCSS emergency shelter, which is the only shelter of its kind in the area, leave their homes with only the clothes on their backs. These donations have provided a supply of clothing that can be used for job interviews or for everyday use by the women and their children.
