Ways to Help

Ways to Help

Every person has the power to make a difference.  Simple gestures of kindness turn into life changing moments at the Crisis Center for South Suburbia (CCSS).  At a difficult crossroads, a pair of pajamas and warm bed can bring the security that allows a victim of abuse to focus on planning for a safer future.  A train pass can mean the ability to secure employment and become independent.  A child with a safe place to heal and learn means hope of breaking the cycle of violence for the next generation.

Your partnership and generosity helps the Crisis Center to provide these opportunities free of charge to our clients.  The reality is we can’t do it without you!

Monetary Donations

General Donations: Your support helps the Crisis Center continue to provide comprehensive services, free of charge to victims of abuse.  More important, your donations help them know they are loved by people who care. By donating, YOU make an impact at CCSS and a difference in the lives of those we serve.

For your convenience, make a quick, easy and SECURE donation by clicking the Donate Now button at the top of the page or mail your check or money order to:

ATTN: Development Dept.
P.O. Box 39
Tinley Park, IL 60477

Please include your name, address, email and telephone number so that we may properly acknowledge your generous gift for your tax deduction purposes. The Crisis Center for South Suburbia is a 501(c) (3) organization.

Tributes: Making a tribute donation is a beautiful way to honor someone and at the same time make a difference in the lives of others. To make a donation in honor or memory of an individual or organization online, click the Donate Now button or send a check payable to CCSS, P.O. Box 39, Tinley Park, IL 60477.  Please include in the comments section the name of the honoree and the contact information of the person you would like to receive the gift acknowledgement.

Work Place Giving: Many places of business have opportunities to support a local charity through employer matching donations, directed giving, United Way or employee giving campaigns.  Ask your employer about sponsoring an event or hosting an employee “dress-down” day and donate the proceeds to CCSS.  Or plan a donation drive to collect needed items for the shelter from our Wish List.

Major Gifts: Planned Giving: CCSS offers many gift opportunities that can be tailored to your specific financial and estate planning needs.  Please contact Lorri Nagle at (708) 429-7255 Ex. 131 or lnagle@crisisctr.org to start the conversation.

Physical Donations: CCSS accepts donations of new items from our Wish List directly to the shelter.  Due to storage limitations we ask that gently used items be delivered to our Neat Repeats Resale stores.  We bring donated items to the shelter on an as needed basis.  Our clients are also able to shop at the stores free of charge.  The stores are open to the public with proceeds coming back to CCSS to support our programs and services. You can also select items from our Amazon Wish List and ship donations directly to our shelter! (remember to use Amazon Smile and select ‘Crisis Center for South Suburbia’ as your preferred charity. 0.5% of the price of your purchases is donated to the Crisis Center.)

Neat Repeats Resale: What if cleaning out your closets could make a difference in someone’s life?  Donating your gently used items to one of Neat Repeats Resale stores can make a difference! To learn more about donating or for store locations and hours, visit our Neat Repeats Resale page.

Furniture: Donations of furniture are only accepted on as needed basis and must be delivered to CCSS.  Sorry we do not have pick up service available. Furniture must in good condition, free of stains, pet hair, smoke, tears or other damage.

Other Ways to Help:

Community Events: Raise funds on behalf of CCSS!  Collect pledges for an event that you are participating in, such as a run/walk, marathon, etc. (check out one donor’s quest to raise funds for domestic violence prevention).  Give a percentage of your business proceeds for a day (i.e. Dine to Donate, percentage of orders for particular items, etc.).  Host an event.  Groups in the past and present have done cut-a-thons, motorcycle rides, art shows, etc.  Be creative!  Whatever your idea, give us a call and we can walk through the steps to help make your fundraiser a success.  To learn more about how to host a community event visit our Community Events page.

Donation Drives: Interested in collecting items for CCSS?  Hosting a donation drive is a great way to make an impact and raise awareness. You can choose items from our general Wish List, focus on more immediate needs or collect items centered around a theme (i.e. health and wellness, baby shower, pajama party, spring clean-up, etc.). To plan your donation drive and make arrangements for drop off, please contact Janice Barry at (708) 429-7255 or jbarry@crisisctr.org.

Events: CCSS hosts major events each year to raise awareness about domestic violence and funds to support our vital programs and services that help victims become survivors. Events are a great way to learn more about CCSS, introduce new friends to CCSS or just come out and have a great time while making a difference. To learn more about our events, sponsorship opportunities or get tickets to our next event visit our Events Page.

Memorial Walkway: Honor or memorialize an individual or organization by purchasing a brick for our Memorial Walkway for $150 per brick. Click on the link below to download the order form or call the Development Office for more information at (708) 429-7255.

GoodSearch: Use GoodSearch (similar to Google) as your online search engine. When you create an account, money is donated to CCSS each time you conduct a search.

AmazonSmile: By shopping using AmazonSmile (same as Amazon), 0.5% of the price of your purchases is donated to the Crisis Center.

There are many ways to help. Not sure which way is best for you? Give us a call for suggestions by contacting the Development Department at (708) 429-7255 or info@crisictr.org.
